How I Got My Sister Her First Online Job [Without a Degree]

online jobs without a degree

We did it! My sister can now travel around the world and work remotely!

Okay, not reallyโ€ฆ she still has school to finish. But she can buy clothes from Shein with her own money now. Thatโ€™s basically the same thing. (Right?)

So how did we do it (briefly)

1. I trained my sister to write SEO articles with ChatGPT.

2. We offered the service to companies and marketing professionals. (Some of them are my colleagues). We also promoted our service in relevant Facebook and WhatsApp groups.

3. We started working with our first client after receiving several inquiries.

How can you do this too?

If a 15-year-old girl managed to get a job online, thereโ€™s no reason why you canโ€™t do it too!

Was it easy to get her the job? Well, a little because it was with my help.

Will it be easy for you? If you have 0 experience and no help, then probably not.
But I hope that through the next article, I will make it easier for you and also refute some of the myths that plague remote work!

Today, there are many opportunities in the digital world that do not require you to earn a degree or have a college diploma.

They will require you to have a learning phase so you can understand the skills and the technology required to do the job.

It is important for me to note:

I believe people should work in a field they are passionate about. But sometimes you donโ€™t know what you are passionate about until you try different things.

When I started in the digital world, I tried dropshipping, POD, SEO, content writing, PPC, and more.

Each of these experiences helped me learn what I am good at and what I enjoy doing. I know that the digital world can be overwhelming, so my advice is to just start somewhere and figure it out as you go.

So now that Iโ€™ve made the point. Here are potential remote jobs that do not require a degree:

Online skills that do not require a degree

Content Writing

Content writing is a great online skill that you can learn without a degree. There are many different types of content writing, such as writing for blogs, social media, email campaigns, and SEO articles. If you like to write, then you should consider learning content writing.

Here are some specific examples of content writing jobs that do not require a degree:

  • Blog writer
  • Social media writer
  • Email copywriter
  • SEO writer
  • Content marketer
  • Technical writer
  • Ghostwriter

If you are interested in learning content writing, there are many online resources available. You can find courses, tutorials, and even free resources to help you get started.

AI services

AI services! I know it sounds cool and innovative and, at the same time, complicated for some people.

Donโ€™t worry. Some AI services donโ€™t require you to be a software developer or rocket science expert. They will need you to learn and understand basic concepts about AI.

For example, my sister offers AI content generation services, and she hasnโ€™t finished school yet.

Fiverr (a well-known freelance website) launched a new category of AI-related services. You can find their ideas for services requiring a learning phase from you.

Video editing and animation

In the digital world, video content is big. Creating videos, animating videos, and editing them are all valuable skills in the market that require only the time to learn them.

You donโ€™t need a degree for that! You need to practice until you get it right.

Social media marketing

Large companies and businesses have advertising companies or in-house employees who are responsible for managing social media accounts. However, small businesses will prefer to work with a freelancer who will take over the management of the social accounts and their growth.

Social media manager is responsible for creating content, managing accounts and campaigns, monitoring account analytics, engaging with followers, and keeping up with trends to stay relevant. If you have what it takes to manage social media accounts, this may be a great job for you.

SEO

As a digital nomad who provides SEO services, I can tell you that small businesses or agencies are looking for freelancers to do SEO for them.

SEO jobs require research and planning to understand the market and what people are looking for.

You will need to learn how search engines work and then how to develop a strategy based on this knowledge. It requires patience and practice to improve rankings and increase organic traffic.

You can become an SEO freelancer or work for an SEO agency.

Virtual assistant services

Virtual Assistants (VAs) provide a wide range of administrative tasks for businesses or individuals. It is one job that requires only basic computer knowledge, organization skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently.

VAs can be hired to help with scheduling, email management, data entry, social media management, website maintenance, and more. As long as you know how to use a computer and have an understanding of the job requirements, you can become a VA.

The world is not sunshine and rainbows

I come across many videos on social media in the style of โ€œHow to find a job online in 3 steps?โ€. These videos make it sound like finding an online job is easy.

Finding a job online can be tough. Whether you want to work for a company or be a freelancer, there are challenges you need to overcome.

If you want a traditional online job, you need to have a good resume and be able to pass interviews and assessments.

To be a successful freelancer, you need to be good at what you do and be able to sell yourself. You also need to be able to negotiate contracts and be disciplined enough to manage your time and meet deadlines.

No matter what your chosen path is, You need to be willing to work hard and be persistent. The online job market is competitive, but itโ€™s possible to succeed if you have the right skills and attitude.

What is the next step?

Okay, youโ€™ve gone through the list of options. Now itโ€™s time to decide on 1 skill that you will focus on and start with.

Focus is very important here. When we try to do too many things at once, our progress is slowed down. So pick one thing and go all in on it.

Once you have chosen your skill, start learning it! Look for courses, tutorials, books โ€“ whatever will help you learn faster and better.

Then take the plunge: Reach out to people in the industry, build a portfolio of your work, and start offering services.

If you have any questions, you can contact me. I will be happy to help you to do the first step.

Good Luck!
