The digital nomad lifestyle is one of freedom and flexibility. But it can also be a bit overwhelming, trying to figure out where to stay that has good internet, is comfortable, and won’t break the bank.

All you need is WiFi and a comfy spot to get your grind on – perhaps a comfy seat by one of those famous hostel chillout lounges? After all, sometimes innovative ideas come out of randomly meeting fellow travelers around the world – who knows what knowledge will pass through yours next!

When I feel like I need company and a change of scenery, hostels are my go-to.

3. Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is taking the digital nomad world by storm – the perfect blend of adventure, whimsy, and low-cost accommodation. Instead of booking a generic hotel room that could be anywhere in the world, nomads can rest their heads in some of the most unique places on earth – somebody’s home in a rural village, an artist’s downtown loft, or maybe even a castle if you are lucky!

I used Couchsurfing several times. To be honest, I don’t really like this option, because I have a hard time staying in a stranger’s house. However, I know some people who really love this experience.

I try to travel with a low budget, so I rarely stay in hotels. I prefer the options above, like Airbnb and Hostels.
